Erin Lunceford is a former District Judge who currently serves as a mediator and arbitrator. Prior to taking the bench, Judge Lunceford had a 27-year active trial and appellate practice, covering a wide range of complex tort, medical malpractice, business, employment, commercial and insurance disputes. After leaving the bench in 2017, she established her mediation/arbitration practice while working as Counsel for the international law firm, Norton Rose Fulbright. She now conducts Mediations and Arbitrations through LuncefordADR, LLC. During her years as a trial/appellate lawyer, Judge Lunceford tried over 38 jury trials and handled over 40 appeals, including a successful argument to the Texas Supreme Court. She is board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law and is also Board Certified as a Medical Malpractice Specialist by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys. She is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and a past president of the Houston ABOTA Chapter.
Judge Lunceford performs both in-person and virtual (Zoom) mediations and arbitrations in Houston, Texas, and will also travel if requested. She is an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association, on the Commercial, Consumer, Energy and all employment panels. Judge Lunceford’s philosophy on litigation and mediation can best be summed up in her favorite Abraham Lincoln quote:
Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can. Point out to them how the nominal winner is often the real loser--in fees, and expenses, and waste of time. As a peace-maker the lawyer has a superior opportunity of being a good man.
